The History of Long Acres in Langebaan

In 1992, the old  Vredenburg- Saldanha Municipality approved the development of the Long Acres Country Estate.  It was at that stage not part of Langebaan, being outside the Langebaan town boundaries and therefore serviced by ESKOM. It only became part of Langebaan in the year 2000, when Saldanha Bay Municipality was formed.

The original developers were C.B.D. Developers and launched as a  Country Equestrian Estate. It made provision for 192 ranches/smallholdings of 5 Acres (2 hectare = 10 000 m²), 1 Acre Paddocks(4000 m²) and plots at 600m². The original selling prices were  R105 000 for 5 Acres, R89 000 for 1 Acre and R39 000 for plots.

There was not much interest, and the sales only took off in 1998/1999, when all 1 Acres and plots were also converted into 2-hectare opportunities.

In 2024, vacant land sold for R3 million, and established ranches can reach more than R10 million.
