The official data dates back to 2011 Census, as everyone is still waiting for the Census 2021 to be broken down to town and ward level. The Municipality does its own planning, based on estimated growth, new Municipal accounts opened and the average size of households.
In 2011, the count was 8 297 residents in Langebaan. In 2015, The Municipality did its own Community Survey which confirms the unofficial count of 14 442 residents. Based on the growth pattern, the count in 2020 was 22 312 residents in Langebaan. The household growth forecast is annually at 3% between 2021 and 2025. Therefore, the figures for 2024 clearly indicate that the total population in Langebaan is 25 000 residents. The ability to work from home has enabled households to move away from the economic hubs and settle in Langebaan. This “Zoom-town” trend, is attracting even more households, particularly from Gauteng, to move here. As the country population change percentage is at 20%, the Western Cape is at 44 %, Langebaan hits a record high of 66,3%.
The biggest concentration of permanent residents stay in Myburgh Park, the Langebaan Country Estate and Midtown. The Langebaan Country Estate has all ready at 1000 permanent households. But the massive growing pattern to the north of town, around Mykonos, is changing this trend fast.

Who is visiting Langebaan and why?
Tourism has the biggest market share of the economy in Langebaan and it is important especially for those in the hospitality industry , to know who is visiting and why.
Of all the visitors to Langebaan, 32% are from overseas and 68% are domestic travellers. The biggest overseas market is Germany (35,1%), United Kingdom (14,3%) and the Netherlands (13,7%). The main purpose for their stay is for leisure (76,5%). From the domestic market, 75,7% is from the Western Cape, 7,8% from Gauteng and 5,1% from the Eastern Cape.
