Klein Oostewal/Shark Bay

As the most southern beach, it got its nickname from the sand-sharks. It is very popular with the locals and the best spot for kitesurfing training as the south easterly winds blow you back to shore. There is no sea current and therefore very safe to swim. It has public toilets, showers and restaurant with the best roof views. Parking is limited, so get there early to enjoy this family-friendly beach.

Sandbaai Beach

This very narrow beach runs from the Yacht club to the Parks Board Offices. It edges on old beach front houses and  being used by homeowners to moar their boats in season , park their Hobbie cats and rubber ducks.

 Extremely limited parking. Beach access only at Uitsig Street and Marine Drive. Perfect beach if you have very small ones under constant supervision. No toilets and no restaurants. 

Main Beach

The longest and official Main Beach, right off the CBD,stretching from Park Board Offices to sand bags. It has a special designated swimming area, kite-and windsurfing area. It is perfect for sunset walks. Has public toilets in Bree Street, parking in Bree- and Dwars street. Can become overcrowded and there is no protection from the strong southern winds. It has a lots of restaurants close by and favorite place to celebrate New Year, with hundreds others.

Main Beach 2

This section of the Langebaan coastline is reclaimed back from the sea as it was previously washed away. It now creates a protected little bay and is very popular with windsurfers to launch. It runs from the sandbags to the public parking area. The sandbags are a very popular fishing spot for the locals. Lots of well known restaurants service this area and it has public toilets.

Strandloper Beach

This section of the Beaches in Langebaan is very small and named after the famous outdoor restaurant that is situated here. Parking is limited  with no public toilets. It is the traditional swimming area for the Sea View Park residents. It  has lots of rock outcrops which forms a natural tidal pool with high tide. Can become over crowded.

Leentjiesklip 1 Beach

This each stretches parallel to the Leentjiesklip Caravan Park and The Cove residential development. It only has access by the Caravan Park and mostly used by the campers. This area is extremely sensitive to sea erosion and therefore no walking on dunes allowed. No public toilets or parking.

Leentjiesklip 2/ Calypso Beach

This beach stretches parallel to the Waterfront and Calypso residential developments. There is no public toilets, but public parking area is available at the Waterfront and Calypso entrances. Good swimming conditions, good wave action, but be aware of sea currents. Less frequent visitors.

Leentjiesklip 3/ Hobie Beach

This beach is very popular and receive its nickname from the Hobie-cat  and rubberduck world championships, that took place here. It has a variety of restaurants to choose from, very popular sunset and leisure area. Has public toilets and parking available and access is available through Casino entrance. Can become very crowded.

Paradise Beach

This beach is the most north of all the  Beaches in Langebaan and main access point, is through Club Mykonos. The only alternative way is via Laguna sands, or by boat. The bay is protected from strong winds and create the best opportunity for walking miles along the beach or horse riding. it is very popular for offshore fishing and the locals call it “Spreeuwalle.”  No public toilets or parking available, but here you can appreciate the raw beauty of the WESKUS.

Kraalbaai Beach

The most popular beach, of all the Beaches in Langebaan, especially with the locals and is accessible, easy and free, by boat.  Perfect for all water sports as it is protected from strong southern winds. Warm water creates perfect swimming conditions for the whole family. Very overcrowded in peak season. By road, travel distance is 37 km and entrance fee is payable at the Park’s gate.Public parking and toilets available and the only beach with braai facilities. Churchhaven Beach

The picture perfect beach is the hidden gem on the WESKUS. The breathtaking scenery is located in the West Coast National Park and entry fee is payable at Park entrance. Only accessible by road. All the Beaches in Langebaan are under the authority of the National Parks Board and the following are applicable to all beaches:

Beach Regulations:

  • No Lifeguards on any beach
  • Some beaches only swimming allowed in demarcated areas.
  • Bait collection and fishing strictly by permit only.
  • Kite surfing and Windsurfing only allowed in designated areas.
  • All boats must have permits.
  • Skippers licence must be available.
  • Boat launching only from designated areas.
  • Children must be under supervision.
  • Be careful at rocky areas.
  • No boat or sailing allowed in restricted areas. (C-zone).
